TSB Bank Added Value Accounts has commissioned research which reveals nearly 2 million Brits will go holidaying in sunnier lands during the forthcoming weekend.Of the 1,000 respondents approximately one in ten (equating to 5.2m when extrapolated to the entire UK population) admitted to going on holiday in the past without proper insurance.Nine percent cited lack of time for their lack of insurance, slightly over half claimed they didn’t think about it, and 20% stated they forgot about it.holiday insurance is vitally important, particularly as 10% of Britons have lost luggage, 14% have visited a doctor and 20% have been admitted to hospital whilst abroad.Nor are overseas trips the only occasions during which holiday insurance should be taken out.With the weaker pound and recession many are opting to go on holiday in the UK, yet 13% lack car breakdown cover.The warning from Lloyds TSB’s follows similar advice from Direct holiday Insurance earlier in the month, which showed that the average cost of cancellation was £747, and stolen/damaged baggage usually cost around £210.
